SFA offers classes leading to a BFA with a major in sculpture. All art majors are required to take a class in three dimensional design. The beginning class in sculpture covers the basic methods and materials used in modern sculpture: welded steel fabrication, wood construction, clay modeling and mold making. The advanced sculpture class, which can be repeated several times to fulfill degree requirements, stresses individual directions as well as an introduction to foundry methods. SFA offers the curriculum leading to an MA and MFA degree with a major in sculpture. Our physical plant includes foundry and welding equipment, an excellent wood shop and ample work space. Graduate sculpture students are provided private studios. Students find the individual instruction our sculpture program offers very attractive. Many have completed the sculpture program at Stephen F. Austin State University and are now working as professional artists and teachers in both public schools and colleges. |
