The Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 East Main Street, is a newly renovated 10,238 square foot downtown Nacogdoches building. The first floor contains a 2,933 square foot gallery, which contains a 120" x 160" drop-down screen. There is also a storage room and kitchen. The second floor contains a 1,332 square foot gallery with a 65" x 116" drop-down screen, a conference room with a 54" x 96" drop-down screen, two offices and a storage room. Exhibitions are presented year-round and are planned by the SFA Gallery Director. Fundraising is continuing to build an endowment that will support the exhibitions, pay for the daily operations and create a new Assistant Director/Curator of Public Programming. Individuals and groups from the university and the community are able to schedule social and educational events which are approved under the Gallery Usage Policy. Gallery hours are 12:30 - 5 p.m., Tuesday - Sunday.

Modern and Contemporary American Prints from the A.G. Edwards & Sons Corporate Art Collection, The Art Center, 1st floor. With over 4,000 print and graphic works, the art collection of A.G. Edwards is among the largest corporate collections in the United States. Viewers of this exhibition will enjoy prints by the biggest names in American art, including Andy Warhol, Robert Motherwell, Roy Lichenstein, Donald Judd, Christo, and many more. Picturing Pollock: Photographs by Hans Namuth and Martha Holmes, The Art Center, 2nd floor. Hans Namuth’s photographs of Jackson Pollock rank among the most important visual documents ever produced of an artist at work. Organized by Dr. Bradley Bailey with the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, this show will also present several rarely exhibited photographs of the artist by Life Magazine photographer Martha Holmes. Opening reception on January 27 at 6 p.m.

MANUAL: On the Verge,The Art Center, 2nd floor. Since 1974 Suzanne Bloom and Ed Hill have collaborated and exhibited their artwork as MANUAL (BLOOM/HILL). Exhibitions including their photo-works, videotapes, computer programs, and installations have been seen in 30 solo and over 250 group shows held in 10 countries, 24 states, and 66 cities. Currently they are working on a video installation, photomurals and conceptual design elements for a public art and urban works project for the city of Houston. Gallery talk and announcement of TEXAS NATIONAL winners on April 14 at 6 p.m., opening reception following.
